Samsung has unveiled their latest entry into the limited edition series of Galaxy S7 Edge, the Olympic Games Edition, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The announcement comes with less than a month to go for the Rio Games, which begins from 5th August.

There have been such Games Edition phones from Samsung before, but this is the first time that they have launched a device with a dedicated Olympic Games’ design language. This limited edition devices uses the colours of the Olympic rings as accents.

The back of the phone has blue coloured Olympic logo and camera accents. The power button and the volume buttons are red and green respectively. The earpiece above the screen is yellow and the home button has a yellow ring. The fifth colour – black – is the only colour in which the device will be available.

Even the software of this phone has a lot of Olympic inspired design elements. Default apps like Contacts, Dial, Messages and even the notification tray, lock screen and home screen will have colours of the Olympic rings.

To be given away to Olympians

Samsung announced that they will be handing out one device to each of the participants – more than 12,500 – along with other freebies. The international sponsor of Rio 2016 will also give away their latest accessory, Gear IconX. Gear IconX is a set of cordless ear-buds with an in-ear heart rate monitor, dedicated storage and music player, aimed at fitness freaks.

The Korean tech giant also announced an application called Rio 2016, which will keep you updated about the Games. Using this app you can follow the Games on the go, with information like schedule, medal counts etc. You can download the app from the link provided below.

Samsung will make 2,016 such phones available in Brazil, the United States, Korea, Germany and China from 18th July.
