Amid varying rumours about Samsung’s upcoming flagship – the Galaxy Note 7, we finally have an official confirmation. Samsung is sending out invites to its Galaxy Unpacked event, where they will launch the Note 7 on August 2. The event will begin at 11 AM EDT (8:30 PM IST) in New York, with simultaneous events planned at Rio de Janeiro (12 PM) and London (4 PM).
Another official confirmation is related to the name of the device. Yes, it’s going to be Note 7 instead of Note 6 – something that was rumoured since a long time. Samsung mentioned the following while revealing the name :
“First and foremost though, you might be curious as to why it’s called Galaxy Note7 instead of Galaxy Note6. There are a couple reasons why. First, the Galaxy Note7 will complement our Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and unify our product portfolio. Second, the Galaxy Note7 will minimize confusion about the latest mobile technology from Samsung, and provide full alignment with Galaxy S smartphone.”
Other rumours about the device suggest a dual-edged display, which will make it the first Note device to have such a display panel. The only smartphone in the flagship series to have curved screen was Note Edge, which had just one curved side. Features like an iris scanner and USB Type-C port will also make their debut on a Samsung smartphone through Note 7.
The rumours will not end till Samsung launches Note 7 officially, and that is nearly three weeks away. We will keep you updated with all the reports about Samsung’s upcoming launch. Keep visiting this space for more such news.
