Pogbanned: Paul Pogba Suspended for Opening Game of the Season

The world’s most expensive player, French star midfielder Paul Pogba After making a sensational return to Manchester United, will not be making his debut on Premier League opening weekend as he has been banned for the first game of the season.

Paul Pogba said this week after completing the transfer : “I am delighted to rejoin United. It has always been a club with a special place in my heart and I am really looking forward to working with Mourinho. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Juventus and have some fantastic memories of a great club with players that I count as friends. But I feel the time is right to go back to Old Trafford. There are no words to be honest, there are no words. I just came back to Carrington, it was like I just came back home.”

Pogba completed the switch from Juventus to United this week in a world-record £89m move, and Red Devils fans were crazy with excitement at the prospect of watching the 23-year-old play his first game for the club.

Sadly, however, they will be made to wait an extra week, with news emerging of a one-game suspension which has followed the player from Italy.

With the #PLkickoff this weekend, did you know four players are serving suspensions?

The league’s governing body also provided an explanation, stating that Pogba had been booked twice in the Coppa Italia last season, and his one-game ban had been transferred.

He was booked twice in last season's Coppa Italia, which results in a one-game ban. This has been transferred to England.
